Stephanie Nahas Geiger, MD

Stephanie Nahas earned her undergraduate degree in biology (AB, cum laude) at Harvard (Cambridge, MA) in 1995. She then went to Rush Medical College (Chicago, IL) where, after a brief detour to pursue a Masters degree (MSEd) in instructional technology from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA) in 1998, she earned her MD in 2001.
She completed internship at Rush followed by neurology residency then fellowship in headache medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Philadelphia, PA). In January 2007, after 1.5 years of fellowship training, she joined faculty and became the Program Director for the Headache Medicine Fellowship at the Jefferson Headache Center of Thomas Jefferson University. In July 2023, she assumed the role of Assistant Director in support of a colleague and junior faculty member. She is a dedicated advocate for the field, having attended all but one Headache on the Hill events with the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy (AHDA) in Washington, DC since 2007, and served on the AHDA Board of Directors as Vice President, Interim President, and Member at Large before shifting to the Board if Directors of AHDA’s sister organization, The Headache Alliance, in 2023.
Dr. Nahas serves on the Board of Directors of the American Headache Society (AHS), is former Co-Chair of and current Senior Advisor to the “First Contact: Headache Education in Primary Care” Committee, Co-Chair of the Mastering Migraine Therapies Planning Committee, and also has served on several other Committees and Special Interest Sections for the AHS. She is a former Section Editor for Current Pain and Headache Reports (2017-2022) and current Neurology Editorial Review Group Chair for Doody Enterprises (since 2017).
