Mandee Kate Schaub, MS

Mandee Kate Schaub, MS is a researcher and PhD candidate in the Department of Neuroscience at The University of Texas at Dallas where she studies pain associated with migraine and headache. As a person living with chronic migraine and 24/7 headache, Mandee has first-hand experience with the disease she works diligently to understand. Without a pain free day since the age of 13, Mandee uses her disease as a fire behind her purpose and a motivator to conduct research that will help others.

Mandee received her undergraduate degree in biology from Pfeiffer University and her Master’s degree in Neuroscience from East Carolina University prior to moving to Texas to pursue her PhD in 2022. She joined the lab of Dr. Gregory Dussor, where they use pre-clinical models of headache and human nervous system tissue to understand migraine and headache disease, and work to identify new therapeutic targets for treatment.

She is a member of the American Headache Society, the United States Association for the Study of Pain, and the Society for Neuroscience. She is also a member of the Editorial Board for Migraine Science Collaborative. In addition to her research, Mandee is a passionate advocate. She participates in Headache on the Hill, and led a local installment of the Headache on the Hill Visual Installation in Richardson, TX. She is passionate about reducing suffering of all people living with headaches and hopes to make a positive impact throughout her career with research, advocacy, and public education about migraine and headache disorders.
